Saeima adopts laws for implementation of tax policy reform
On Friday, 28 July, the Saeima adopted in the final reading laws ensuring the implementation of the tax policy reform as of next year. 
Ināra Mūrniece: Latvia and Azerbaijan have good prospects in economic cooperation
On Monday, 17 July, Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, met at the parliament with Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is in Latvia on an official visit. The Speaker of the Saeima emphasised that Latvia and Azerbaijan share a successful political dialogue and are interested in deepening economic cooperation.
Speaker Mūrniece in Washington: USA asserts commitment to NATO
Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, met with Paul Ryan, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, in Washington, where she expressed appreciation for the US military presence in Europe and underlined the importance of a strong NATO alliance. Speaker Mūrniece, together with the Nordic and Baltic (NB8) speakers of parliament, is on a visit to the US from 26 to 29 June.
Saeima ratifies Rail Baltica agreement
On Thursday, 22 June, the Saeima ratified the agreement concluded by the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian governments to build the Rail Baltica rail connection.
On Thursday, 15 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading the amendments to the Animal Protection Law prohibiting the use of wild animals in circuses and other shows. At present, it is allowed. Other amendments triggered by the European Commission clarify the provisions of the Law pertaining to laboratory animals.
Ināra Mūrniece to NATO Secretary General: enhanced forward presence of NATO in the region shows the strength of the alliance
‘By deploying NATO battle group in our region the alliance has demonstrated its capacity to defend itself against any aggression,’ Speaker Ināra Mūrniece stressed on Monday, 19 June, at the Saeima, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who arrived to welcome the enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup deployed to Latvia.
Ināra Mūrniece: close transatlantic cooperation helps to counter terrorism and threats of information warfare
Our common goal on both sides of the Atlantic is to ensure security and prosperity for our citizens. Security implies not only military security, but also cybersecurity and the security of financial systems and information space. It is therefore important to strengthen Transatlantic cooperation to counter terrorist threats, information warfare and cyberattacks. Speaker Ināra Mūrniece stressed this on Monday, 19 June, at the Saeima, while opening the 8th Parliamentary Intelligence Security Forum.
Saeima to host conference on Eastern Partnership
On Friday, 9 June, the Saeima will host a conference organised by the Baltic Assembly (BA) focused on the current situation and future prospects in the cooperation between the European Union (EU) and the Eastern Partnership countries. 
Speaker Mūrniece: We want to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in trade, transport and logistics
Latvia and Azerbaijan have a good basis for deepening cooperation in trade, transport and logistics. Speaker Ināra Mūrniece stressed this on Monday, 29 May, at the Saeima, during a meeting with Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is in Latvia on an official visit.
Ināra Mūrniece: security, transport and energy on agenda for Latvia and Lithuania
“Latvia and Lithuania need to continue active cooperation in security and defence, as well as the transport and energy sectors,” said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, when she met with Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, in Burbiškas, Lithuania on Friday, 26 May.
