On Wednesday, 29 February, the Saeima’s football team will have a friendship game against the combined team of the Ukrainian and Polish Embassies in Latvia.
On Friday, 24 February, when approving Latvia’s national position for negotiations on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014 – 2020, members of the European Affairs Committee of the Saeima indicated that although the first – explanatory – phase of the EU’s new Multiannual Financial Framework negotiations has ended, Latvia will have to continue providing reasoned justification for its interests regarding Cohesion Policy funding and direct payments to farmers.
Presentation on adoption of laws in Latvia (23.02.2012.)
The Saeima has added a new item to its collection of informative materials aimed at increasing the accessibility of the parliament and giving everyone a chance to learn about various aspects of work of the Saeima. The Saeima website www.saeima.lv now offers a presentation about the adoption of laws. The presentation will also be sent to schools, encouraging them to use it as a teaching tool for explaining the work of the parliament.
Students show a great interest in the opportunity to learn about the professional life of MPs and staff members of the Saeima. On Wednesday, 15 February, the Saeima hosted 280 shadows and thus became one of the most popular hosts of shadows in the state.

On Monday, 13 February, Solvita Āboltiņa, Speaker of the Saeima, during her official visit to the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, in an official ceremony opened the new building of the Latvian Embassy. Renovated premises, which are more customer-friendly, will ensure that the increasingly growing demand for Latvian visas is met.
