The Saeima gave a vote of confidence to the Cabinet of Ministers formed by Andris Kulbergs during the extraordinary sitting on Thursday, 28 May. 66 Members of the Saeima voted in favour of the new government, while 25 voted against.
In the Cabinet approved today under the leadership of Andris Kulbergs, the post of Minister of Defence has been assumed by Raivis Melnis, while Baiba Braže will continue to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Viktors Valainis will continue to serve as Minister of Economics.
Māris Kučinskis will serve as Minister of Finance, Jānis Dombrava as Minister for the Interior, and Ilze Indriksone will head the Ministry of Education and Science. Jānis Vitenbergs will serve as Minister of Climate and Energy, Nauris Puntulis as Minister of Culture, and Reinis Uzulnieks has been appointed Minister of Welfare.
Rihards Kozlovskis will serve as Minister of Transport, Edvards Smiltēns as Minister of Justice, while Hosams Abu Meri will continue to serve as Minister of Health. Edgars Tavars will serve as Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development, and Uldis Augulis as Minister of Agriculture.
The government formed by Andris Kulbergs is overall the 43rd Cabinet of Latvia and the third during the 14th Saeima.
The Saeima approved a new Cabinet today following the resignation of Prime Minister Evika Siliņa on 14 May this year, triggering the fall of the Cabinet. President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs invited Andris Kulbergs, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister, to form a new Cabinet.
