MPs and staff of the Saeima collect Christmas gifts for children in Ukraine
Coming together for a charity drive, MPs and staff of the Saeima prepared Christmas gifts for children in Ukraine. The charity drive, which ended on Thursday, 17 December, saw members of the Presidium and the Saeima, as well as staff of the parliament gather for the traditional Christmas workshop and decorate gingerbread hearts together with students of the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School and Chef Raimonds Zommers.

On Thursday, 17 December, the Saeima adopted in the third and final reading amendments to the Asylum Law transposing the provisions of the new European Union (EU) Asylum Procedures Directive.
Saeima agrees to increase  the equity of the national airline “Air Baltic”
On Thursday, 3 December, the Saeima agreed to increase the equity of joint stock company “Air Baltic Corporation”. The proposal was adopted with 45 votes for, 13 against and 2 abstaining.

On Thursday, 3 December, the Saeima decided to extend the participation of soldiers of the Latvian National Armed Forces in the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan until 31 December 2016.
On Thursday, 3 December, the Saeima in the final reading adopted urgent amendments to the Public Procurement Law. According to the new provisions of the Law, scientific expert evaluations will be exempt from the procurement procedure as long as the total amount of the contract is below the threshold of EUR 134 000 and the contract is concluded with experts from an internationally recognised database of scientific experts.
Saeima adopts the budget for 2016
On Monday, 30 November, the Saeima in the final reading adopted the Law on the State Budget for 2016, the Medium-term Framework Budget Law, amendments to 23 laws and a new law. 
Sworn public notaries and bailiffs are now authorised to mediate. On Thursday, 26 November, the Saeima adopted changes in the Law on Notaries and Law on Bailiffs in the third reading. Amendments have expanded the list of mediation service providers, while retaining the same quality requirements – both notaries and bailiffs will be required to undergo certification. Legislation pertaining to mediation was adopted in Latvia last year in order to provide for out-of-court settlement of civil disputes and offer mediation as a form of alternative dispute resolution.

On Thursday, 26 November, the Saeima adopted a draft decision on the National Security Concept.

On Friday, 20 November, participants of the 34th  Session of the Baltic Assembly (BA) in Vilnius, Lithuania, adopted the Final Document of the 34th Session and agreed on prioritising activities aimed at ensuring a secure, united and open Baltic region.
